Matchmaking is my heart. It’s not just about setting up singles, it’s getting to know people and helping them learn about themselves. As matchmakers, we (that is me, and my team at Match Me Canada) help people transform from single life to being partnered and in a relationship; it’s not just our introductions that these matches work, it’s so much more.
I was blessed with the gift of gab, but honestly, my strongest suit is that I am an amazing listener. I hear what my clients say, but I also hear what they don’t say. I can get to know people incredibly well in only a few short minutes. It’s kind of crazy, really.
I have been told that I am approachable and easy to speak to. It’s been proven time and again. I am that person that goes into a gas station to pay and comes out two minutes later with 10 facts about the attendant, and that’s because she chose to divulge that information to me. I get to know people in the elevator, at a street corner waiting for the light to change, while choosing ripe avocados at the grocery store.
My husband Mike finds it amusing how people are naturally drawn to me. He witnesses it first-hand on a regular basis.
Getting involved in people’s love lives was a natural progression for me. I’m a connector, introducing friends and business colleagues, being a cheerleader for those around me and understanding the importance of listening.
At Match Me Canada, we try our best to help all of our clients meet the love of their life, but honestly, it doesn’t happen for everybody. But when we are able to help a client meet their perfect match or to meet someone on their own through our guidance and assistance, they/we are absolutely over the moon … our day is made, sometimes our week, or our month.
I certainly take my job seriously. It doesn’t feel much like work at all, it feels like what I was put on this earth to do. Maybe I’m just a dreamer; maybe I’m just a hopeless romantic, but I’m doing what I love and I love what I do. What could be better?
