When I first laid eyes on Mike, who is now my husband, I felt an undeniable pull towards him. I knew nothing about him, but there was something intriguing about him that I just couldn’t shake. Every time I was in his presence, I felt this warm, fuzzy feeling that I couldn’t quite explain.
It wasn’t until we finally spoke for the first time at a charity event that I had the chance to figure out what was going on. I must admit, a little bit of liquid courage helped me approach him, but I was grateful for the opportunity to speak with him. Our first conversation was a bit of a wild ride with all the noise and music, but I managed to pick up a few keywords like “farm” and “chicken.” I wasn’t sure what to make of it, but I left the event feeling like maybe my intuition was off.
However, days later, Mike added me on Facebook, and we started chatting. I was able to do a bit of digging, and what I found was quite surprising. Mike had a hobby vineyard that he affectionately called his farm, and he was the president of an organic chicken company. I was blown away by how much we actually had in common, from our professional goals to our shared passions.
So, what’s the moral of the story? It’s to keep an open mind and never judge a book by its cover. First impressions are just that, and it takes time to get to know someone and their story. And in this case, it led to a wonderful, playful love story that I wouldn’t trade for anything.
